Last weekend (Saturday night) I asked my girlfriend Denise to marry me and she said….YES! I am so totally over the moon. Denise is the person who makes my life complete.

We haven’t set a date for the wedding yet due to the impending birth of our first child in just over a month, but it will be sometime in the first half of next year.

I am so looking forward to getting married and becoming a father. Lots of exciting and MASSIVE changes in my life!

I’ll modify this post later with a picture of the ring I gave to Denise.

These last 3 or 4 weeks have been going tortuously slowly for Denise and I. The baby just can’t come soon enough for us both.

We did recently get a new car. Much larger than Denise’s old Ford Fiesta Zetec S.

We both took Friday and Monday off to do the move. All the bedroom furniture got moved on Saturday with the help of Denise’s brother-in-law Craig who did the driving of the hire van.

The house is currently like a bomb site, with boxes everywhere! Quite a bit of furniture arrived as well as we ordered some stuff for the livingroom and the bedroom. I put together a nest of tables and Denise put together a shoe rack last night.Hopefully get everything sorted and tidied away by this weekend. It is really good to have Denise with me at last.

On the baby news front 15 weeks to go!

I’m sure the time will fly in. We spent time over the weekend in Babies R Us and Mothercare looking for a Travel System and buying some feeding bottles, dummies and other stuff!

Babies are expensive even before they are born!!

Not a lot of movement from baby this time but I suppose he/she has to sleep sometimes! It’s amazing all the things they check for in the scan, from femur length to size of the skull and cerebelum. They even check is there is any sign of a cleft lip or palate. The great news is everything looks to be fine. Denise and I are so happy at that. It is nice to be reassured that things are progressing as they should.

We found out the sex of the baby but that’s staying as a big secret between Denise and I and some of our family who’ve been told.

Christmas was great I spent this with Denise and her family up near Perth. It was a fantastic day especially spending time with Anne-Marie’s (Denise’s sister) kids Lucy and Matthew.

New Year was pretty quiet, although I did get a little drunk but hey that’s what New Year is for.

Since starting back at work I’ve been struggling with getting up in the morning! Getting into the swing of things now and since it’s the middle of February that’s not too bad!

I’m fully settled into the house now, still need to buy some bedroom furniture for the small bedroom and another chest of drawers. The big news on the house front is that Denise is moving in with me at the end of March. Just over 5 weeks to go! I really can’t wait.

Even though Denise and I have known for a while but we’ve been keeping it reasonably quiet. The most amazing news of all is that Denise is pregnant and were due to have a baby this July!! Denise and I are so happy. We’ve known since November 2009 and it came as a bit of a shock, but we’re both so looking forward to becoming parents. We both know it won’t be easy but are looking forward to the challenges that parenthood will bring!

We are both going for her 20 week ultrasound scan tomorrow afternoon but don’t know if we are going to find out if it’s a boy or girl. We will be deciding on the day. Looking forward to tomorrow. Denise had her first scan at 12 weeks (just before Christmas) it was toally amazing. There was so much movement from the baby and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen!

All my moving will be taking place this coming weekend with my first night in the new house this coming Saturday. Yay!!!

My girlfriend and I have continued to buy things for the house. Recent purchases include:

• 3 Piece Leather Suite
• Cutlery
• Lots of Kitchen stuff (knives, chopping board, whisk etc etc)
• Pots
• Dyson Ball DC24 All Floors
• Plates

A lot of money has been spent so far but even more to be spent in the coming weeks! Things still to buy include:

• Kitchen Table and Chairs
• 2 x Double Wardrobe
• 2 x Chest of Drawers
• Kingsize Bed
• 2 x Bedside Cabinet
• Cabinet for Livingroom
• Coffee Table
• Lamps
• Glassware (mugs, glasses, wine glasses etc)
• Phones
• Lots of Miscellaneous stuff

It is quite stressful but it will be worth it in the end because I will have my own home!

Should be a lot of fun but I am missing my girlfriend a lot already. We’ve not been apart for this long before, but I’m sure I’ll cope (just). We’re going out for dinner on her first full day back in the country. Going to go to an Italian restaurant which will be great, we are both big fans of Italian cuisine.

I was originally supposed to be travelling to the US with my girlfriend but that never worked out as planned and the house purchase has put a big strain on my finances which makes things like holidays out of the question at the moment.

The house purchase is finally progressing the mortgage papers should be received by my solicitor today who will then proceed with the purchase heading towards getting the Misives concluded. I’ve been putting together a list of all the stuff that we are going to need to buy for the new house. It’s a MASSIVE list and will cost us a small fortune. Still haven’t bought a Sofa/Chairs yet and now also want to buy a King Size bed.

We are still very excited about the new house and looking forward to moving in. 6 weeks today till we get the keys!

I have now received a formal acceptance of my offer, which is excellent news. On the other hand I’m having some trouble arranging my mortgage application with the bank due to an outdated Home Report. Which means I have had to instruct my own updated survey. Another £150 down the drain, sigh!

Already looking at stuff for the house. Need to buy a sofa and bed very soon. We’ve bought pots, kettle, toaster, kitchen bin etc already. It’s all very exciting at the moment.

The official move in date is October 30th.

Tuesday: Mortgage Agreement in Principle from my Lender
Wednesday: 9:05am instructed my solicitor to put in an offer on the property
Wednesday: 10:15am received notification from my solicitor that the offer has been verbally accepted.

Now that is fast!!!!

Looking forward to getting all organised to move in at the end of October by the time the Missives are concluded etc!
